Nice tutorial. Learned a few new commands and workflows in Rhino.
This is great as a learning exercise. If you were to attempt to unroll irregular or more complex geometry Pepakura is a purpose built piece of software for accomplishing exactly this task:

It has some really useful built in tools like automated tab creation and tiling across multiple sheets for larger objects.
