Modeling from reference images

This is great. I have been using background bitmap and always had to toggle between hide / show. Now I can use picture frame and adjust transparency in materials then lock the plan.
Used this for the first time this morning on a new job. I make 3d models of jewellery pieces from my wifes pencil drawing.
Wow again ... another learning bit to help work better.

How can I hide the backfaces from the picture frame reference images? I want to put one image in the back and another one in the front, so I can't just use transparency. I need to hide the backfaces from these images as I turn the camera.

Hi Leonardo,

There isn't a way to have a custom backface image with the basic Rhino material at this time. The PictureFrame command essentially adds an image texture to a basic material's color channel. For what you're looking to do, I'd suggest having two picture frame planes back to back but not directly on top of one another. You may want to ask on the user forum here as well in case anyone has a script that may accomplish something similar. http://discourse.mcneel.com/

hey Brian James ... how i make an image to flow along a surface... thought its flowing am nt able get a continous image on the surface... can u sugest me how to get a continous image on any surrface

Hi Bharath,

It sounds like you might just need to assign a material to the surface and place an image texture in the color channel of that material. Post your model and the image to the user forum if you can... http://discourse.mcneel.com/
